Destructive dog behaviour is not only an expensive problem – whether it be a dog chewing your favourite shoes, a dog scratching at the doorway or destroying your best furniture – it is also the sign of a dog with a big problem.
It’s also an issue that is widely misunderstood, with the dog behaviour problems being attributed to everything but the most likely reason. Dog separation anxiety.
I have met many people who have asked for my help because the destructive dog behaviour was getting out of hand, yet when told how much the consultation would be, responded by saying it was too much as they needed to buy a new sofa.
I know what you’re thinking – why not get the problem sorted, then buy the sofa? But some folk get stuck in a downward spiral and can’t see it… Of course, if they set aside their plans to buy the sofa, and lived with the current one (why not put a throw on it temporarily), they could deal with what is driving the destructive behaviour in their dogs first and guarantee the safety of the new sofa!
Of course, I have recently created a really cost-effective way of dealing with this problem, so you no longer have to choose between the two. Click on the link to find out more about the cure for destructive dog behaviour
For those who claim that dog boredom is the cause (and there are still so many people who will insist on humanising animals), let me clarify that animals who do not know the next time they are going to eat (all of them except some people) find it much more difficult to get bored.
Have you have ever watched one of those “reality” shows were they don’t feed the contestants for a while? (A friend of mine in New Zealand used to work for a TV company making these shows and he told me they are all staged). Nobody ever talks of being bored. All they talk about is… you guessed it, food.
A dogs chewing is entirely natural and releases a natural endorphin into the system that calms it down during times of stress (watch Sir Alex Ferguson when his football team Man. Utd are struggling…)
The stress for a dog comes from separation anxiety and separation anxiety comes about as a result of a dog frantically worrying about its family for which it believes it is responsible.
If your dogs destructive behaviour means you walk in angry, of course the dog will run away, but not because it knows it has done something wrong. We all know the best immediate course of action when a loved one comes home mad is to run for the hills until they calm down.
To calm the whole situation down and put an end to your dogs destructive behaviour, watch our free video on Dog Anxiety. All you need to do is click on the image above. Do it now before your dog destroys your happy home.
